What's new in version 4.0.2
- Also check the changes from 4.0.1 since they rolled into this release too
- A small number of BfB 3000 machines have experienced a problem whereby the firmware fails to run when the printer is powered on. The problem has been attributed to variation in the heater manufacturing process. This firmware update includes a fix for this issue.
- When in manual move mode, the limit switches are now checked and movement in the relevant direction is stopped when the X/Y/Z limit switches are activated. The acceleration profile has been improved so the movement is more controllable.

Overview
This release is a bug fix update for both the Bits from Bytes RapMan and 3000 printer models. The release addresses a number of issues raised in feedback from forum users, customers and suppliers.
An important safety feature is included in this update which monitors for a failed heater or thermistor on both the RapMan and 3000 models. Users of firmware version V4.0.0 should upgrade as soon as possible to V4.0.1.

What's new in version 4.0.1
- An important safety mechanism detects a failed heater or thermistor. Should this scenario be detected an
error message will be displayed.
- There have been reports of RapMan extruders hitting the framework when homing from the print finished rest
location. The amount of Y- movement during homing has been decreased to prevent this.
- It is now possible to return to the main menu when a print has completed by pressing the ESC button,
therefore allowing successive prints without a power cycle.
- Refinements have been made to the home location detection mechanism resulting in greatly improved
repeatability in X, Y and Z position over firmware V4.0.0. The changes will probably result in the need to tweak the Z home height adjustment on your printer to suit the new location detection mechanism.
- The auxiliary ports now work and are controlled by the following Gcodes as follows:
o AUX 1 on M211 o AUX 1 off M210 o AUX 2 on M221 o AUX 2 off M220 IMPORTANT NOTE: In firmware versions prior to V4.0.0 AUX 1 was enabled and disabled by M221 and M220 respectively. These Gcodes now operate AUX2, so any users of AUX 1 previously need to either change their Gcode, or move the wires from AUX1 to AUX2.
- A bug in the pause operation has been identified where pressing the pause button for a second time before
the extruders have parked in pause mode can corrupt the pause operation and hinder a correct resume.

Overview
This release is a major update for both the Bits from Bytes RapMan and 3000 printer models. The release is the result of a complete overhaul of the printer firmware resulting in greatly improved print quality and consistency of print results. For best print results the V4.0.0 firmware should be used with the latest version of Bits from Bytes Axon (currently V1.11) tool path generation software which is obtainable from the downloads page at www.bitsfrombytes.com.

- Core printing process re-written resulting in reduced variability of extruder movement and feed control. The extruder start/stop sequence has also been significantly enhanced to reduce seam thickness and stringing.
- Pause mechanism re-written resulting in an instant pause action when the pause button is pressed during printing movements.
- SD card file handling re-written to improve SD card error handling and recovery
- Manual extruder control screen modified for improved usability.
